| Dale DeLong Nov 12 1958 - Nov 3 1976 |
| The two years previous to his death was a tough period for our family, but mostly for my Dad, especially on the warm afternoon he had to tell me the news. Dale was stricken with Cancer until he died one November morning alone in his hospital room. We spent a lot of time going to various hospitals around the state to get the treatment he needed. The kemo-theropy made him very sick afterwards. The cancer finally rid him of his entire immune system, and many important organs. Dale was strong through it all. He did all that he could when he was home. He loved the neighborhood horse farm. He spent a lot of time there helping with the horses. Dad did what he could to make Dale's life as good as it could be for his ailing teen years. He got him a cool green Corvair, with 4 on the floor, to drive around. He was very popular with his friends. I am sure he went to many of the parties his generation was having around the area. Dale and Dad went snowmobiling all over the area. He had a couple really cool sleds to ride. I worshipped Dale's desk. He always had it set up just right, with a radio and certain pens and things in the just right spots. He kept his drawers very organized, and had a lot of neat things. I was a pre-teen during the times he would chill in his room listening to AM stations and writing stuff. He Loved horses, and had pictures of them throughout his room. He also had ribbons and trophies for some of the horses he showed for the farm down the road. Dale was the older brother I looked up to, although we fought and bickered a lot, we still loved each other, and I will NEVER get over his death. |
