Construction
Begins Again

The old sign stood
at the end of the driveway for quite a few years. It was there to get people
to rent at the Hill. I even remember it when I first moved to the Hill back
in 2001. I guess
someone was just too drunk to handle it being here, or
it was driven over by someone who
couldn't see where the driveway was.
Either way, the poor old sign has finally bit the dust,
until Sheldon
or Ralph fix it up and put it back into it's spot at the bottom of the hill.
The New Monitor
Finally Arrived
|
A couple months ago
I ordered 2 flat screen monitors with my tax money. I believe that a person
should spend at least half or their tax refund on toys or keep-able stuff.
So, I got myself 2 19"
monitors from Walmart.com. They came in a week
or so, but one of them was defective, so I sent
it back to get a
replacement. Of course, it took weeks for it to finally make it back to Walmart.
By
then they were out of those monitors, so my money was credited back
into my account. I found a
comparable one and ordered it, and had my
second monitor up and running a week later. I finally
have 2 flat
screen monitors on my desk to improve my computer experience, and to attain more
space on my desk YAY!
I thought it was
nuclear war or something, but it was only parts to the new windmills they are
putting up on a nearby hill. There have been electric generating
windmills around out area for
a few years now, and I guess they have
been a success for the farmers that have allowed
them to be built on
their lands. They are huge beautiful objects that whirl around on the
horizon. In California, they have huge wind farms with hundreds of these
things. It is an
awesome sight. I would like to see more of them put up
so we could maybe do away with the
Nuclear power plants someday.
Energy drinks are my
thing these days, or my addiction. I drink one or two of these things a
day anymore. Caffeine, I use every day anyway, sugar also, however these
drinks also
include Ginseng and Taurine, both of which stimulate energy
in a person. They are a great
way to get "woke up" in the early part of
your day, but there is a terrible crash period about
4 or 5 hours
later. I can only imagine what they are doin' to my heart, it just can't be
good.
My favorite, so far is "Full Throttle". The blue can has a really
good fruity flavor that appeals
to me. I also like NOS. The biggest
problem with these drinks is the incredibly inflated price.
They are
$2.50 a can! Since that adds up to about $20 a week, I might as well go back to
smokin' dope! lol. Don't worry, I won't do THAT, but it IS almost the
same price. Try one
sometime, they are good, but don't get addicted!
My cousin gave me
his old Mac G-3. It has been sitting in my closet for many months now, and
I finally decided to set it up. It is an awesome old unit with great
capabilities, however I couldn't
manage to get it onto the Internet cuz
it needed some updating that I just couldn't do, so I
quickly tore it
back down to set up another PC for the guest computer in my "computer shop"
which is actually my bedroom, lol. The Mac sits safely in the closet again
awaiting to either be
sold ($100 or best offer) or set back up when I
can get my cousin over to help me with it again.
The G-3 was a good rig
in it's time.
Now that most of the
snow has gone away it is time again for the guys to get out the big
machinery and work on our NEW Route 20 (or Main Street). They say that in
New York
State there are two seasons: Winter, and Construction. This is
prolly (probably) true.
They have been working on our streets for a
couple years now, and the project is
almost done, but they did have to
stop for the cold weather last fall. The machines were
tearing up the
old cement right outside our place this morning, while I was trying to
sleep. I guess that is what I get for sleeping during the day, lol. I
snapped some pics of
all the hub-bub before I went to bed. Soon we will
have fresh new pavement and
Morrisville will be new again. Old Route 20
was built in the 30's sometime so it was
about time they ripped up the
bumpy old cement and did us a new road. They spent
most of last year
getting all the underground pipes in order for the water and sewage,
now it is time for the street. I am looking forward to the final
outcome.
It was Easter, and
we had to work :-(. However, we made the best of it. Chris and Matt (aka -
Cotton) Brought in a 10 pound HAM and we cooked it up stairs in "the Loft".
We were at a loss for
a good glaze, so we used some of our famous
"Boss Wing
Sauce" and it ended
up being the best
glaze I have ever tasted. We also made a YouTube
video that night of "How to Make a
Pizza". It
turned out to be a great night for us. The Ham almost melted in your mouth,
and we actually had
a large number of customers show up to eat at the
shop. I guess a larger number of students
then I had planned on
actually stayed in college town for the weekend. Most everyone had a
great holiday meal at Mom's. We made the best of it in true restaurant
worker style. As Homer
would say: MMMMMMM HAM!
Someone thought they
would be smart and steal our cordless phone from the pizza shop. It was
kinda stupid, cuz what are ya gonna do with a cordless without the base
unit, lol. Oh well, either
way we had to find another solution for a
phone to use, so out to the storage unit we went to get
my old retro
phone from the 60's. It was 20 years old when I bought it. Now it is a genuine
antique. The kids love it, and it works very well for our cause. The
bells were so loud, I had
removed them a while back, and it sounds like
a buzzer when it rings. The funny part to me is
watching people try to
use the dial thingy. We have gotten so used to pushing the buttons that it
is rather a challenge to actually dial. Some people have NEVER ever used
one of those things.
Hehe, Go Retro Phone!
I guess the boiz
were bored, so they took a walk downtown and ended up at the laundromat cuz it
was warm there, and it was cold out. I was taking my usual walk to the
laundromat to do my
laundry, and ran into them there. These guys are a
couple of typical Morrisville dudes whom I
have seen running around
occasionally. After I got there we talked for a while, then they decided
to show off a little, and the yellow cart became the big fascination, so
around and around they
went with that thang having a ball, until it
crashed into the garbage cans, hehe. I snapped a few
pix of their
antics that night to show that life isn't completely dull in Morrisville. Go
Guys!
Robert was happy to
be able to order himself a new RAM chip for his computer. He went from 90MB
up to over 300MB. This prompted us to also upgrade his rig from Win 2000 to
Win XP! Now his
computer is working 1000% better then it was before. He
is enjoying greater speed and new
features. Now he can work on his
videos and graphic art with "vim and vigor" as he would say. The
Commander (as we call him) is very serious about his work, and needed the
improvement to his rig.
Now he will be able to surf the web and view
his movie trailers with more ease. Go Robert!

It was almost nice
out, so I decided to take a long walk to get some air and take some pictures. I
started out along North Street, and ended up going about a mile up to
the Rocks Road Intersection.
That is the road where they held the MTV
downhill leush race one year. It was like a modern soap
box derby, but
with skateboards and National TV coverage. It is a nice spot to walk because
there
is a nice view and a little lake to walk by. They also have a
Maple Syrup farm there. It was one of
my first "spring" walks of the
year. It was a little cold, but it was nice to get out.
