With the new
apartment came a new critter in my life. In the past I always had some kind of a
pet, mostly kitties, and a couple puppies, but now I have Mary Jane.
She is a cute little black
and white kitty who was left here by a
student who went home for the summer. He is letting
me take care of her
while he is away. She took right to my and my pad and helps cheer me
up
when I am down. Mary Jane is very friendly and well behaved, and loves to go on
her
prowl every night. She even brought me home a chipmunk one day, lol. I quickly rescued it.
Go Mary Jane!
Lately, Deanna has
been my best friend. Her and her boyfriend Chris and I lived together for a
short period and we had some very good times together. I have known Dee
since she was very
little, since I worked with her parents at a local
factory a few years back. My first memories of
Deanna was when she
would go running across the floor yelling "Daddy Daddy Daddy" when
they
would come to pick him up at the end of the shift. Being the end of the day, it
was always a
cheerful event to look forward to. Since then, her and her
friends rediscovered me in their teen
years and my house became the
"hang out". We had many good conversations and times back
then. Dee is
one of my only friends from those days who has stuck with me and helped me get
through my "cleaning up" period in my life. Now we go shopping together
and do our laundry
together and I am always in a happy mood when we are
together. Thank You Deanna for being
there for me!
In an effort to
improve his life, Robert has finally moved to a better apartment. After many
years of living where he was, he finally saw fit to move along. Seven years
of paying high rent,
and not seeing any of the necessary work being
done to the place, he finally had enough. All
the previous landlord did
with his money was smoke it up in a cloud of pot. In the mean time
the
house still stands, falling apart. All his rent money did was go to waste and
Robert had to
live in deplorable conditions for all those years, not to
mention in a world of depression as well.
Now he is picking himself up
and dusting off the old with a newer and better situation. He is
paying
less money and is getting a better apartment that is well taken care of. Robert
is
happier already. I think he will do well at his new place. "The
Stone Porch House" as it is
referred to, is a house of many college
parties, and has a much more cheerful air to it's nature.
He may be
woke up, from time to time during the school
year, but it will at least be the sounds
of happiness and not the
sounds of bitching as was in the old place. He is well deserving of a
more positive environment. Go Robert!
We have done a lot
of work getting the Hill ready again for the students return in the fall. The
previous management had let a lot of things go, and the junk was piling
up. We pulled a lot of
old furniture and mattresses out of the storage
barns and maintenance closets, there was junk
piled up a mile high
behind the barn, and even the office was in a state of chaos. In the course
of time we have managed to get quite a grip on all these challenges, and
the Hill is starting to
look really spiffy. Now we can use the barns
and closets to our advantage, and all the junk has
been thrown away. I
can't understand why the previous people couldn't bring themselves to
doing the work because I am highly motivated because of the apartment I now
possess. I
guess some people are just lazy and feel the world owes
them. Pan Am has been busy with the
mowing department, and the Hill is
looking tip-top now. I think it will be a good summer because
we are
all very good workers and care a lot about what we do. I have lived on the Hill
off and
on for almost 7 years now, and I simply have an undying love
for the place. Campus Hill, our
home.
Jima's Day in
Morrisville
|
Jima came to visit
us one day this week. It has been a while since we have seen her since she
moved out of town last summer to improve her life. She is enjoying life in
Chittenango, a town to
our north, and has a new man and a little one on
the way. She is very happy now, and enjoyed
her visit to her old
friends, Me and Robert. We have all been friends now for almost 5 years, so it
is good to get together to catch up sometimes. Good luck Jima, it was
good to see ya again.
I have moved on up
to a better situation for myself. I was offered an apartment back in
my
favorite complex here in Morrisville with an opportunity to pay the rent through
helping manage the place. My old friend Sheldon is the manager of the
complex and
needs some help squaring things away and keeping order
among the natives. So far
we have made a marked improvement on the
place, and I have proven myself an asset
to Campus Hill. My reward is a
place to myself, and the ability to have all that I own
around me
again. I am one more step towards putting the "police action" that occurred
2 years ago, behind me, and one more step towards a better life for myself.
It took me a
couple weeks to get everything in order, but I am very
happy with my new place and my
new challenge. I still work at the pizza
shop a couple nights a week to pay my utilities
and keep myself fed, so
I am quite busy keeping up with it all. Life is better for me.
My old friend and
mentor Mike Deforest has died. He was a great drummer and singer from when I
was in high school. We used to go to as many of their gigs as we could cuz
his bands were always
great and the shows inspired our own music. He
was 5 years older then I. The tunes I remember the
most were "Highway
Star", and "Then Came The Last Days of May". Download them and you may
understand their importance in my life. He would play the drums AND sing
the tunes while backed
up by a kick-ass guitar player and a bass
player. They were awesome. I am not sure how he died,
but a part of me
has died with him. My message to all of you right now, is to keep the faith and
follow your dreams to the fullest, and don't let the drugs take them
away from you!
