After 7 long
months, I finally made it to the end of my substance abuse outpatient
rehab sessions. I have been going to Syracuse every Tuesday to go
to these group sessions. We all became good friends and we shared
a lot of stories and insights. Those guys really helped me get through my
recovery and I will miss them greatly. Being a veteran, I have a
certain bond with other veterans and armed services members, so
we were really there for each other. I always feel comfortable at the VA
hospital for that reason. I sure am glad they are there,
otherwise I might NOT be here right now, since they saved my life
a couple years ago when I was getting off cocaine abuse, and now with my
marijuana habit. Now the only drug I have left to get off from is
Coffee, and I don't see that happening very soon, lol. Once
again: Go Me!

On the last night of
my week off for Thanksgiving, I finally made an attempt at
cleaning and
organizing my room. It was still in the stage it was in when I crammed
everything into the little room when I moved here last May. It took me this
long to be
able to get some time to straighten everything out and get
stuff where it should be. I
ended up throwing out a lot of stuff that I
just didn't need, and that made lots of room
on the shelves for the
stuff I DID need. Soon, I will have and even bigger shore ahead
of me
when I get all my stuff from Bill's house on the water and into a storage unit.
I
plan to throw out a lot of stuff then too, lol. It is amazing how
much stuff you can
accumilate through the course of your life. It is
looking much better around here now.
A couple of weeks
ago, Ralph told me of some old Laptop computers that would be going on
sale soon at the college. It didn't take too long before they were all
spoken for. However,
yesterday I took a walk to the campus store to
purchase a NIC card for a computer I was
working on, and I asked about
the laptops. I guess one person had pulled out of the list and I
was
free to purchase one. $108 later I had an IBM A22 in my hands. It came with a
nifty
backpack, some cords, and a recovery disk. I quickly upgraded it
to Win XP, got a wireless
card for it, and I have been enjoying it ever
since. I have already taken it down to the picnic
tables to surf the
Internet, and walked around town listening to MP3's on it. I plan to get a 2.0
USB card for it, so I can hook up my cam and make some "on location"
videos around town
for Youtube.com soon. I am looking forward to all
the fun I can have with the laptop. It
happens to be the same model as
the one that was confiscated from me in last years police
action on my
house. This marks one MORE step towards my recovery from that event. Go Me!
Last week on my trip
to the VA hospital, I swung into the flu shot clinic to get my free flu shot
for the year. I highly recommend getting one to avoid getting sick. I hate
needles, but I hate
being sick even worse. Find a clinic near you, and
get inoculated!
Getting an
appropriate amount of RAM for a computer always helps it's performance, and a
persons patience level, lol. Since the new rig uses part of the RAM for
its video rendering, I
decided that I needed more to compensate for the
usage. Now I am running 512MB and the rig
is running sweet, now, not
only have I replaced the unit that was confiscated, but I have
improved
it beyond the old one. This rig is a real sweetheart now.
You can find Amanda
at the On the Run now a days. She managed to land herself a job there
workin' the night shift. It is a very demanding job, and I think she will
do well there. It is always
good to see her smiling face behind the
counter when I go to get my SHOCK Coffee, and other
things I shop for
there. The On the Run is a staple of the community and well deserving of her
services. Morrisville has always been happy with the improvement that the
store has made for
us. Good Luck Amanda, hope it lasts a long time for
ya!
Got New Mic for
Better Videos
|
In an effort to make
better videos for YouTube.com, I ordered a nice mic stand, and cable for
my old Band Mic. The mic was worth investing in, cuz it has really good
sound and will greatly
improve the videos I am making, plus it looks
really snazzy. Another great step towards the
betterment of my life
these days.
We had to go to
WalMart on our way to Al's house for Thanksgiving to get some soda and
some last minute stuff. While I was there, I picked up a new belt. Little
things like this mean a
lot to me because it is the first time in my
life I can actually buy myself the stuff I need
instead of making due
with old hand me downs because I spent all my money on drugs. The
belt,
and many more things are a celebration of my sobriety.
I report getting new
shoes a lot, because I have to buy them a lot. In my line of work, they wear
out quickly, so I buy the cheap ones. This time I bought the $9 specials at
WalMart. WalMart's
sneakers are actually quite comfortable, and always
work well for my needs. The funny part of
the whole matter, is that the
next day I got a package from my Sister with a pair of sneaks in it
that she bought at a lawn sale, lol. Talk about timing! I plan to wear her
sneaks around the
house and around town, and the new ones at work. Hers
were ADIDAS, and are very nice, so
there is no sense in ruining them at
work. Here is to good foot wear!
It all started at
the beginning of work. It was a wonderful night when Al and I were happy, Ed
came
down and was happy too. We were singing and dancing around the
place getting ready for the
usual busy Saturday night. Then I noticed
that Adrian, the delivery dude, wasn't here yet. He is
usually early to
fold boxes and help us out. I called him at 5 to see what was up, and he said
"OH
MY GOD......". I guess he forgot to come in, and he was all the way
up in Syracuse. He quickly
started heading back to Morrisville to come
to work. What a guy, I am proud of him for doing that,
instead of
staying to watch the game he went to see. Josh came in to cover for him til he
got back.
Al was slowly getting more and more mad as things progressed.
Adrian was more then an hour
getting back, and Josh was getting on Al's
nerves, then when he opened the cooler to get some
block olives for a
pie, he saw that the container was empty (and in the cooler......SHAWN!!!!!) and
the shit hit the FAN! The black olive container got tossed against the
wall in my dish area, thus
leaving black olive residue all over the
walls, and the new can got opened so furiously, there was
black olive
juice all over the floor and the can opener station. I calmly mopped it all up
while
laughing at Al, cuz I know how he felt. After Adrian showed up,
all was better with us, cuz he is a
cutie and it is hard to be mad at
him for too long, and our busy night progressed. Later on, Adrians
car
broke down, damnit, so Al went to pick him up, and their paths had crossed cuz
Adrian got a
ride from one of his boiz, then the place filled up with
people as I was trying to explain to him how
the rest of the night was
supposed to go, and of course they allll had to say hi to him as I was trying
to talk......I finally got all the info to him, then I got a call from
a lady who's car broke down as well.
She wanted to try to get a ride
from the delivery guy home, I told her we had another guy coming in
(Joe who was coming in to cover for Ed while he went to the bar to work
later...) but I never heard
from her again. Joe ended up doing
deliveries while Adrian stayed behind to run the register. What
a game
of chess it was for us, but it all worked out and everyone did well. I managed
to get all my
work done, and stayed late to help get out the late night
slices. In the midst of it all, a girl got too
drunk and the ambulance
was called for her as she chilled in the pizza shop, damn! To make
matters worse, I lent my credit card to Amanda and Brenda, big mistake, and
they took out two $20
increments from the bank, instead of one like
they were supposed to so they could buy ciggies. I
may have to have
them killed for that one (just kidding!), or at least take away their privileges
of
getting money from me. Silly girls that they are, big mistake on
their parts let me tell ya. cuz they
were getting money from me all the
time for ciggies. Now I am sitting here tired and bummed after
our
wonderful evening. Another night in Morrisville.........
Finally the chill of
upstate NY is upon us, (although for the past couple days it has been really
warm). The weather in New York is very polar. It can get really hot, or
DAMNED cold, depending
on the day. I have been bitching about people
turning up the heat already like crazy, cuz it just
hasn't been cold
enough to warrant it. To me the heat goes on when the temp gets below 20F.
Otherwise you will get sick. A person needs to acclimatize his/herself for
the winter or they WILL
be sorry. Plus what is wrong with sweaters and
long-johns? Well, the other night when the snow
was falling I was
walking around, and I said to myself: "There, it's finally COLD". Now all we
gotsta
do is get through another 7 months of it.......Go Winter!
I have been
introducing the guys in my apartment some of the important places in
Morrisville.
First it was the Trippin' Tree, and this time it was the
Arboretum. The Arboretum is a park behind
Brooks Hall that the
Horticulture students created a number of years ago. Sometimes classes still
go out there to investigate the different exotic trees they have planted
there. It is open to the
public and makes a nice place to go walk
around in when you feel like unwinding and getting
away from the hustle
and bustle of Morrisville life. There are benches to sit on, and some really
great trees you can look at or even climb in. Check it out sometime. It is
best in the summer, but
you can still go there now. Better get there
before the snow hits or it will be some tough walkin'
lol. Me and
Amanda Brown discovered the Arboretum quite a few years ago, and My Sister
Janet,
had a big hand in it's creation when she went to school for
Horticulture here back in the 80's.
Next, I must introduce the guys to
the Observatory. That might be in the spring, unless we hurry.
Thanksgiving this
year was held at Al and Vanessa's house in Oneida. Al came by and picked up
Me, Pan Am, and Robert, and off we went. There was their kids, Kat and her
kids, and a boat
load of food. In fact we had some food that never got
taken out of the fridge cuz we forgot about
it, hehe. All in all it was
a fun day, and it was good for us to get out of the bubble.
It has been over two
years since I moved from Morrisville, and returned. It has been over a year
since I stopped the "CRIME" of partying with my friends. In a town where
that is what MOST people
do for a past time, it is hard for me to
imagine it as a CRIME, but the local Sheriffs did. Worse things
then
that were reported to them about me, but they weren't happening. The reports
came from
hypocrite drug using parents of some various teen friends of
mine who just ASSUMED I was
supplying their kids with hard drugs. The
fact remains that any hard drugs that got into their hands
came from
college students, and all I did with my teen friends was smoke the pot that THEY
brought
to my house, most of which came from their parents anyway.
There might have been other stuff in
my house from time to time, but
that was reserved for me and my older friends who were mostly
alcoholics anyway. That is what was found, when my house was searched one
morning last year. All
they got was a couple grams of some CRAP that I
had for such an occasion. Not enough to get me
into too much trouble,
but enough to slap my hand but good. I guess that isn't enough for the
Sheriff these days. He actually talked to my boss the other day really
making me look BAD, prolly in
an effort to ruin me in my recovery. He
even threatened he would try to yank my cousin's liqueur
license
because I am working in the Pizza Kitchen. I think that is pretty low, when we
are in a town
full of drug hustlers and violent criminals, to smut an
innocent guy like me when I am just getting my
life straightened out
from the trouble they caused me in their police action on my home last year.
But, I guess he just isn't capable of getting the real criminals so he has
to make a scapegoat out of
me to make the people proud of him, or he
just wasn't happy with the outcome of my bust. The
State troopers, on
the other hand, actually apologized to me, because they expected to find
waaaaay more on me then they did (thanks to the Sheriff's reports to them
about me). They told
them of a Meth Lab, Serving Child Porn on the
Internet, Possessing a Gun, Trading drugs for sex
with minors, and
stolen computer gear, NONE OF WHICH EVER
EXISTED! Me and my
Lawyer
have been tossing over the concept of a civil suit about the
issue, but we decided to leave the idea
alone and see how things
settled. Now I am considering the idea again since the SHERIFF of our
wonderful county can't seem to keep his mouth shut about me. I am living a
clean life right now, and
even before, all I was doing was partying
with my friends! I have been living up to the expectations
of my
probation, paid all my fines, did my jail time, and I feel I deserve to be left
alone!
