David Called Me
from Viginia!
|
I was happily
surprised with a phone call from muh Buddy from Virginia the other night.
He told me one night, in an IM, that he would give me a call
sometime when he was drunk, and he finally did. I guess he and
his buddy got into some Vanilla extract and were quite drunk from it.
(remember those days?) I love meeting cool people on the
Internet, and we have been IM-ing and e-mailing for almost a year now. It was great to finally hear his voice. We are buddies on MySpace and
at Xanga. He has helped me get through a rough year or so in my
life with his friendship and conversation. My friends mean the world to
me, and the ones that care a little about me mean the most. David
and I seem to really see eye to eye about a lot of stuff. We are
defiantly bros.

It was a late night
after the party, and BLT wanted to take a shower to sober himself
up
before bed, but while he was in the bathroom, Carpy came home and went to bed
himself. The party was in honor of Carpy since it was his 21st
birthday, so being
hammered himself, he went right to sleepy-land.
However, he locked the door before
he went to sleep, not knowing that
BLT was in the shower. None the less, BLT was
quit upset when he found
himself naked in front of his door not able to get in.
Fortunately he
had a towel around his-self. In the mean time, I was in my room with a
couple of lads I knew from my days in Georgetown (circa 2000). We did what
we
could to let poor BLT into his room. Eventually, I had to get out
the screwdrivers and
remove a molding, then push the door hooky thingy
in so it would open. He was very
happy when he could finally go to bed
that night.
I am sad to report
that the first frost has made it to Morrisville. It happened the other night
when I looked at Al's car and saw that it was all frosted up. The cold is
upon us, especially at
night. It won't happen again for a few more
weeks, and it was exceptionally early this year, but
it did happen.
Brrrrrrrrr.
All the way from
Great Britain it came. Faceparty.com sent it to me for filling out an
on-line survey about their website. They wanted to know how Americans felt
about their
British based profile site. I have met a few people there
myself, and I appreciate the
simplicity of how it works. Try Faceparty
sometime. You might meet a few people there.
They have a number of
Americans there as well as Brits. I am a very worldly person, so
I love
meeting people from all over the globe.
The other night the
College put on a great fireworks display for
Parent's Weekend.
Years in the past, I could see them from my apartment
window in the Hill. I would just sit
at my desk and watch them while
writing about them on the Internet. This year I
managed to catch them
for a few minutes when I snuck out the back door at work, and I
could
snap a few shots with my new Cam. I love Fireworks.
The old coffee maker
finally pissed me right off, so I had to get another one to save my
sanity in the morning. A big tradition of mine is to have a pot of coffee
brewin' while I am
in the shower right after getting up for the day.
Coffee helps me wake up and it tastes
really good to me in the morning.
I always have a 2 litre of Coca-cola also. Ahh what a
morning
combination to go with my assortment of pain pills I take for my lungs. All this
is
accomplished while chillin' in my big blue chair for about an hour
while my body wakes
itself up, or goes back to sleep, lol. The new
coffee maker is a simple and inexpensive
design, but it is very
functional and won't leak all over the place like the old one did.
Take
my advice, get the coffee makers that use the round filters and not the cone
shaped ones. You will be much happier.
Observatory Gets a
New Paint Job
|
I took one of my
annual walks up to the observatory the other day. I like to catch the
sunset there, and do some worldly thinking. It is a quiet place for me,
where I can get a
nice view of the village and eat some berries along
the way. Sometime I will go up at
night so I can catch someone there
actually looking at some stars. But for now, I like to
go up alone to
think and catch the view. I always get some nice pix while I am there too.
This time I was pleasantly surprised to see the shiny silver gleam of fresh
paint on it.
They are always upgrading stuff at the college, and the
observatory was next in line. It is
an old building donated and made be
a local silo company and houses a really nice
telescope. I hope to see
it someday.
Pharmacy Window
Gets Broken
|
I went to the
pharmacy to get restock my pain meds, and to get some vitamin pills, and all
of a sudden there were the cops. I saw a lady sweeping up some broken glass
as I went
into the store, but I never gave it a second thought, 'til I
overhear the police questioning
them about it. I guess the glass in the
door got shattered all to bits. No-one was sure of
how it had happened,
because there was no one there when they went running out to see
who
might have tossed the rock through it. I asked them if they fired anyone
recently, lol. I
told them that it was prolly a stone that got pinched
under a tire from a passing by car.
There is construction all over town
these days, so that may very well have been the case.
There is wood in
place of the glass now, but I am sure they will get some new glass soon.
The pharmacy is an old institution around town and they keep me stocked up
on a lot of
stuff I need. I even got insoles for my shoes that day.
Since the advent of
cleaning up my own life by shaking my pot smoking habit, I have a little
more money to play with these days as well. I have been treating Al's
family to Denny's a
lot, and I have bought myself some stuff as well.
The other night I even sent out some
donations to the Disabled
Veterans, and the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Being a
disabled vet
myself, I use the Van to get rides to the hospital when I can, so I figured it
was
the least I could do to send them a little money. Every year they
send people address
labels and the opportunity to send them a few
dollars, so this time I actually sent them
something. You should too.
They really help a lot of people who need it.
Every month on the
first, Robert gets his social security money. He is very happy now that
he doesn't have to pay so much rent, or pay off "other" debts since he has
cleaned up his
life. Now he can buy some things on payday instead of
giving it all to his landlord. In fact,
we ordered a new tracfone and a
webcam for him this month. He also paid me for the new
computer I set
him up with a couple weeks ago. Robert is happier then ever now, and he is
very glad he took control of things in his life. Go Robert!
George has left the
building, the Village, and maybe even the state, lol. This has made
many people happy, and now the Hill will get some results and not a bunch
of excuses
about what people weren't doing. The Hill really needed a
"Doer" to manage the place.
George relied entirely too much on Ralph to
get everything done, instead of doing any
work himself. Ralph was hired
to be the helper and George was hired to get the work done.
He did the
office work, but that was then end of it. He also made a number of the tenants
mad with his demeanor and anger. When it was found that he was
extorting funds, that was
the ticket for Doug (the owner) to make an
important change. This summer he hired
Sheldon to get the place shaped
up. Not long ago George was asked to resign and leave
the Hill. This
weekend he left and Sheldon took over the house and office. Sheldon is a
great man for the job and has already got good things underway for the
Hill. He is Ralph
and My old friend from many years back and I very
capable of the job. Sheldon was a
manager of a school maintenance
department in Syracuse a few years back, an has plenty
of experience
and "Go Power" to do the job right. It takes a special person to run the Hill
and I think we will see some great things happening soon. Good Luck
Sheldon!
We have reached
another Fall season in Morrisville. A few years ago I took a classic
picture of "the prettiest tree in Morrisville". I have been hoping that it
would be as vivid as it
was that year, but it just hasn't shown the
same colors after that year. The tree was
located behind the True Value
Store. This years candidate for the "prettiest tree in
Morrisville"
exists on Skyline drive. When I was taking a walk to the observatory the other
evening, I came across this tree and had to get a shot. The colors are
showing up
everywhere in the trees these days, and the nights are
getting more and more chilly. Soon
I will be reporting the first snow.
Let's hope that won't be for a few more weeks.
