The Big
Flood The water was strong, and deep. Me
and Russ were destin to go to Cabbie's so we braved crossing the
flooded street. The little brook that flows under the village always
overflows when the snow melts. It sometimes blocks Rt 20. This time it
wasn't so bad. The construction of the new pipeline under the village
held up well, but it still wasn't enough. There was up to 3 feet of
water in the street. The manholes were bubbleing up with water. People
were getting stuck and It was getting worse. Russ dove in to help some
friends get their car out, and I managed to ride the little bike across
the great current. On our way back, i walked across. the stream was
almost strong enough to sweep me off my feet, but I got across without
even getting my feet wet. Go Good Boots!! The next night, me and Cabbie
went driving in the truck. A lot of the streams were still flooding,
and we ran across some "road closed" signs. Of course, we had to keep
going to see the damage, and to try to get across anyway. We finally
made it to the washed out bridge. It was actually a culvert, and the
over flow had taken out some of the road, so we got across with no
problem. It was a great adventure.
Movies For a couple of weeks the weather was
soooo shitty, all we could do was sit around and watch movies. Cabbie
has a nice TV, and Cable, so it is easy to find myself drawn into a
good movie or two. Most of them have been about breaking out of prison,
or girls with "DSL". Either way, it has been good to escape into the
world of good movies and forget about my troubles for a couple
weeks.
The
Students Are Back Spring Break made it quiet around
here for a week or two. Now they are all back, and wound right up.
CampusHill is either dead quiet, or it is Party City! The place above
me really does it up to. I am gonna go to chill with them one of these
nights, while I can still party. I know a lot of the people I have been
seeing going up and down the stairs too. It is good to be back.
Home
Movin'
Stuff When we could, Cabbie and I have been
making trips to Madison and getting my stuff moved into storage. That
has meant trips all over the area. I got what I needed here at Ralph's,
and the rest of it is going to the storage place. I am not sure of what
I am gonna do yet, so storage seems like the answer. Cabbie's truck
holds a lot of stuff per load, so it was a lot easier then the move to
Madison was. Right now we got about 2 trips left and it will be all
done, right on time for spring.
Brian's
Books It took a couple of weeks, and a few
trips to Madison, but we got Brian's bookshelf, and all of Brian's
books back to the Hill. Brian was my roommate a couple of years ago. He
has been going to school here for a few years now, and is finally gonna graduate. His books were a wealth of information, and he will be glad to
get them back. It took all day today to sort out the books that were
mine from the ones that were his. Good luck, Brian in your future
endeavors.
